Several sector developments, such as increasing focus on renewable energy, and the development of the market mechanism have necessitated a review of the existing transmission planning, grid management, operational framework and capabilities of state transmission utilities (STU’s) including the state load dispatch centers (SLDCs). SAREP will work with state utilities to strengthen the planning and operations capacity of STUs and system operators and prepare them to deal with the challenges of increased renewable energy in the power system. The focus of the work will be to develop and implement the roadmap to enhance performance for select state transmission utilities. The work will support utilities in improving system planning and operations, human capital management, and support the development of robust business plans and strategies.
