Release of report on Roadmap for State Transmission Utilities (STUs) Capacity Strengthening

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) program, has been working to enhance the development and operational capacity of transmission utilities.

On July 12, 2023, USAID through SAREP, released the report titled “Roadmap for State Transmission Utilities (STUs) Capacity Strengthening” in a virtual event after conducting a detailed assessment to identify the challenges and recommend a roadmap that will strengthen the planning and operational capacity of State Transmission Utilities (STUs). The report focuses on the thematic areas of technology, infrastructure, O&M, regulations, and human capacity and is a result of consultations with various states and a national-level roundtable consultation workshop.

Mr. Ashok Kumar Rajput, Member (Power Systems), CEA Ministry of Power delivered the special address followed by expert opinion on the roadmap by, Mr. S. K. Soonee and Mr. V. K. Agarwal. The virtual event witnessed more than 50 participants from over 12 STUs across the country.

SAREP will focus on implementing the roadmap in few select partner states and strengthening the transmission utilities in Indian states.
