The Regional Training course on Cybersecurity for Transmission Utilities and System Operators was held in Mumbai from April 16th to 18th. Organized by USAID’s SAREP program, the training aimed to enhance the energy sector’s resilience against cyber threats.
The course targeted professionals in the operation of transmission utilities and system operations within the South Asian region. With 35 attendees from different countries, it provided a platform for knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices in cybersecurity. Given the increasing use of digital technologies in power utilities, the training played a crucial role in safeguarding critical infrastructure.
Led by government, academic, and industry experts, the sessions covered a wide range of topics. These included the importance of cybersecurity in maintaining operational continuity, the specifics of Operational Technology (OT), and the latest advancements in addressing cybersecurity challenges. The training highlighted the significance of cyber hygiene and network segmentation in reducing risks.
