The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as part of its activities being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), under the South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP), organized a Workshop on ‘Enabling the use of InvITs for the clean energy transition in India’ on Friday, June 03, 2022.
To mobilize finance for clean energy transition, SAREP has identified several innovative financing instruments, including the Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs). InvITs facilitate the recycling of capital over short intervals and enable subsequent reinvestment in new/greenfield projects. Such capital recycling will immensely help developers in reinvestments, and financial institutions to finance more greenfield projects.
SAREP developed and released a handbook as a knowledge product on InvITs at this event to help project developers and financial institutions understand the benefits of InvITs, and their regulatory requirements and provides, a step-by-step process for issuing InvITs.
