USAID, through its South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) program in collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) organized an industry consultation on ‘Super-Efficient Cooling: Enabling India’s Net Zero Transition’ on July 14, 2023 in New Delhi. The consultation provided a platform for both the cooling industry as well as large-scale institutions procuring cooling solutions to shape the design of procurement system that would encourage adoption of super-efficient cooling systems in India.
The workshop opened with a welcome address by Mr. Vishal Kapoor, CEO EESL who highlighted India’s present and future cooling demands and EESL’s vision on super-efficient cooling followed by a special address by Mr. John Smith-Sreen, Director, USAID Indo-Pacific Office. Mr. Manish Gupta, ED, Electrical Energy and Management (EEM), Indian Railways spoke about Indian Railways’ Energy Efficiency Action Plan and the current cooling needs and future requirements of Indian Railways. This was followed by industry consultation which deliberated on:
65+ participants from more than 20 organizations representing the cooling industry (room air conditioners, chillers, ESCOs) as well as potential clients were part of this deliberation on shaping the future of cooling.
