Scaling up demand-side EE initiatives is one of the most promising and cost-effective solutions for enhancing energy security, avoiding power outages, deferring capital expenditures for new plants, and reducing GHG, while supporting job creation. SAREP is working to accelerate market transformation for energy efficiency in chillers and buildings and scale sustainable public procurement of energy-efficient appliances. SAREP is also enabling energy efficiency market creation for buildings and appliances for other South Asian countries by sharing knowledge and experience from India. SAREP will facilitate establishing strategic partnerships and energy services companies (ESCOs) in neighboring countries to replicate the success that Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) had in India. The program will also work with power distribution companies on utility-led and third-party delivered demand-side management programs.
