Traditionally, utilities have had information and operational technologies (IT and OT) working in silos. This IT/OT convergence is vulnerable to cybersecurity risks and poses a threat to critical infrastructure like power grids. SAREP activities focus on engaging central and state agencies for the development of a cyber security framework, creating a cadre of cyber security specialists within utilities, facilitating the development of test labs based on international best practices, training & capacity building, and establishing cyber security operations centers at state, to proactively address and defend vulnerabilities.
