US$100M fundraise for Nepal-focused renewable energy investment fund

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Background: The fund is a Nepal-focused investment fund, domiciled in and regulated in Singapore by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The fund has identified near-term pipeline opportunities totalling US$35M. The key target segments are renewables (Hydro / Solar / Wind).

Investment Strategy: The fund’s investment strategy targets fully permitted, construction-ready projects, ensuring timely execution and enhanced climate action outcomes.
The fund aims to invest a gross corpus of US$100M in 8-10 assets, procuring significant minority interest in the range of 30-45%, offering not only construction capital but deep and hands on management expertise and capabilities in project financing, project construction and project management.

Partners & Management Team: The fund is a partnership between a Singapore AMC and an energy holding company based in the USA. The leadership team have nearly seven decades of cumulative experience across renewable projects, hydropower, development banking and project financing

USE OF FUNDS

• A portion of the funds raised will be used to meet the set-up cost and payment to consultants for due diligence on the pipeline.
• The balance funds will be used for investment in renewable energy projects in Nepal through classical private equity structures.

POTENTIAL IMPACT

Facilitation of PE investments in renewable energy projects in Nepal, which is currently a very nascent market for opportunities outside of Hydro, coupled with deep and hands on management expertise and capabilities in project financing, project construction and project management.
