DAKSHTA (Drive for Advancing Knowledge and Solutions Through Aggregation) in Energy Efficiency: India’s Experience for a Global Energy Efficiency Transformation
USAID through its South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) Program hosted “DAKSHTA (Drive for Advancing Knowledge and Solutions Through Aggregation) in Energy Efficiency: India’s Experience for a Global Energy Efficiency Transformation” at the sidelines of the 4th Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting (ETWG) with Energy Efficiency Services Limited. The event was held on July 21, 2023, at the G20 Summit in Goa
Energy efficiency is a key priority on the global agenda, and the G20 nations recognize its critical role in achieving sustainable development and combating climate change. With their collective influence and diverse perspectives, the G20 countries have the power to drive transformative change in energy efficiency practices worldwide.
Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary Ministry of Power, Sudin Dhavalikar, Goa Power Minister and Minister, MoP graced this occasion.
Hon’ble Power Minister of Goa, Sudin Dhavalikar in his special address highlighted the net zero goals of government of India. Apurva Chaturvedi, USAID SAREP highlighted collaboration with multiple actors and financing as critical enablers for large scale energy efficiency market transformations.
Milind Deore, Secretary BEE delivered a speech on “Energy Efficiency Policies” followed by a presentation by Vishal Kapoor, CEO, EESL on “Large-scale implementation of Energy Efficiency Programmes” and a presentation on “Collaborations and Financing” by Apurva Chaturvedi, Sr. Clean Energy Specialist, USAID/India. The event highlighted programs and strategies that have made a positive impact on the energy efficiency landscape in India.
Vishal Kapoor also presented the welcome address and set the context for the event. A panel discussion, as part of the side event, on ‘Scaling Energy Efficiency in a Global Context’ brought together government representatives, industry partners, multilateral agencies, international delegates, and experts to share insights for enhancing energy efficiency efforts globally.
Through knowledge sharing platforms, collaborative networks, and international partnerships, valuable insights and lessons learned can be disseminated across borders. This exchange of knowledge fosters innovation and enables countries to implement effective market models tailored to their specific needs, driving the widespread adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
The G20 nations will showcase their efforts and collectively amplify the impact of large-scale industrial efficiency measures for energy-saving practices in buildings and transportation. By aligning policies, investing in research and development, and encouraging private sector engagement, G20 can drive forward a global energy efficiency agenda that benefits all nations.
