Reducing pollution is one of USAID’s core development objectives and a policy priority of India and the other five SAREP countries, which have set emissions-reduction targets as part of the Paris Agreement.
Policy Support
SAREP is planning to support and help refine regulations for polluting sectors by working closely with policy makers. In India, SAREP is engaging with the government of India, regulators and state governments. For the remaining SA countries, SAREP will share best practices from India and organize exchange visits.
Collaboration
SAREP is also engaging with other USAID programs, donors, implementing partners, and missions on pollution mitigation. The idea is to develop policies, regulations, and innovative financing that aid shift from polluting fuels and technologies towards cleaner ones.
