EoI for Investors Considering Investments in the Clean Energy Sector in South Asia

Under USAIDā€™s South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP), CrossBoundary has developed an Investment Facilitation Platform (IFP), a virtual deal hub tailored to connect companies and investors in the clean energy sector across SAREP focus countries. The IFP supports investors in navigating the complex South Asian market by showcasing high-quality transactions that have undergone an initial screening based on the attractiveness of the company, the transaction, and the resulting impact arising from successful closure of the transaction. Investors onboarded to the IFP will be able to access and filter clean energy deals in the region in accordance with their investment criteria.

Ultimately, the platform aims to facilitate transactions not only within the SAREP focus countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka) but also beyond, extending its impact and reach to the Global South.

Why investment facilitation to the clean energy sector in South Asia is critical

Why investment facilitation to the clean energy sector in South Asia is critical

South Asia’s low-carbon energy goals and increasing demand call for a significant increase in energy sector investments. The region represents a huge opportunity for energy transition investments by 2030. Given the high growth potential, global investors have shown keen interest in the market. However, due to the depth and complexity of the region, these investors often shy away from investments due to several barriers, including macro, sectoral, and firmā€level constraints. Addressing these barriers is crucial to unlocking the full potential of South Asia’s energy market.
