The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and technical assistance from USAID’s South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP), organized a workshop on ‘Scaling Rooftop Solar Deployment and Energy Efficiency in MSME clusters’, in Karnal, Haryana, on January 30, 2023.
The workshop was aimed to facilitate rooftop solar deployment (RTS) in various MSME clusters in selected states in India. To increase awareness among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as part of EESL’s ‘Solarization of MSMEs in India Program’ to RTS deployment in MSME clusters identified in some states.
In the workshop in Haryana, participants discussed rooftop solar business models for MSMEs, the regulatory and policy landscape for the same, benefits of demand aggregation, quality, performance, and financing solutions for MSMEs. They also discussed key challenges and expected interventions to scale up #energyefficiency solutions in MSME units. Around 40 participants who attended the workshop included 13 MSME units/associations in the state.
Senior officials from USAID’s SAREP, State Bank of India (SBI), EESL, BEE, and renewable energy and industry related government departments were among the key speakers and panellists at the event.
At the workshop, EESL and SBI signed an MoU for financing rooftop solar solutions for MSME clusters.
